Processing of personal information
Our privacy policy sets out the purposes of processing, the categories of data subjects and personal information, the recipients, planned cross-border transfers and our security measures, as required by section 51(1)(c) of PAIA.
- Data subjects: people who enquire, clients and their staff, suppliers, and users of systems we operate for clients.
- Information: names, contact details, company and billing details, project correspondence and, where we act as an operator, information our clients instruct us to process.
- Recipients: the service providers listed in the privacy policy, professional advisers, and authorities where the law requires.
How to make a request
- Complete the prescribed request form (Form 2 of the PAIA Regulations), available from the Information Regulator’s website or from us.
- Send it to the information officer at info@synthik.co.za, with enough detail to identify the records and proof of identity.
- If you are requesting on behalf of someone else, include proof of your authority.
- We will respond within 30 days, which may be extended once by up to 30 days where PAIA allows.
A request fee and access fee may apply as prescribed in the PAIA Regulations; we will tell you in advance. No fee applies to a request for your own personal information under POPIA section 23, other than reasonable costs for copies. Access may be refused on the grounds set out in Chapter 4 of Part 3 of PAIA, for example to protect the privacy of others or confidential commercial information.
Objections, corrections and complaints
You may object to processing (Form 1 of the POPIA Regulations) or request correction or deletion of personal information (Form 2 of the POPIA Regulations) by sending the form to the information officer. If you are unhappy with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
